I don't have a graphics card...

Hopefully when I get my 970 which will probably be early next year it won't have an issue with coil whine, that is if EVGA fixes the 970 SC ACX 2.0 so there isn't a coil whine problem. (Pretty sure all 970s are having the problem right now except the reference one from NVidia)

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

Get the card replaced, even if it does you have a new card. But I don't have it on mine, even if I did I wouldn't know, I wear great headphones.

Sometimes as in when vsync is not enabled, so when launching a new game that has vsync off, coil whine appears, but as soon as i turn vsync on, coil whine is gone.

Vsync makes the video card work at a consistent rate so it's just best to leave it on for max smoothness and as you say to mitigate coil whine.

Not activating it just provokes major Tearing too, so yeah, vsync is a MUST.
