This is a much better build altogether for that price.

isnt 4 cores better

You mean 6 cores? It really comes down to what you're doing. For multi-tasking the 6300 is much better, but the i3 has a far better upgrade path. The 6300 is still on the dead AM3+ platform.

(I have never tested any of these parts on games besides Minecraft, and I can therefore never guarantee no faults.)

I wouldn't recommend the G3258 anymore.

Also, the fps depends on the GPU more than the CPU.

Instead of telling you which motherboard here's my process for picking one:

1. Decide on a CPU, exclude based on that

2. Do I want USB 3.0 front headers? Extra SATA ports? Expansion?

3. Is this going to be in a smaller case? ITX/mATX?

4. Is this a budget board or do I want overclocking, SLI/Crossfire and other stuffs? Does colour scheme matter?

5. Click the checkboxes, get the cheapest ASUS one that's left
