Are Gadgets for Windows 7 still viable and supported?

I am thinking of getting CPU Meter, GPU Meter, and Network Meter. Are those still supported and accurate or should I look for other gadgets that do about the same thing?

If so, which ones do you suggest?

You'd be better off using Rainmeter tbh mate. (Stick to the stable release btw) You can use Google to find skins, there's tons of them, and you can customize/create your own.

Just to inform you, gadgets for Windows Vista and 7 were discontinued because they had serious vulnerabilities, as you can read in Microsoft page:

This is the first time I've heard of it and it seems nice but somewhat cluttering for someone who just wants monitors for CPU,GPU, Network and maybe HDD..

All the different skins(especially for clock and weather) seem a bit daunting also.

I've not used it in a long while, so i can't recommend anything up to date. Your best bet is just looking at what you can find and trying them out. They can be repositioned/altered etc.

I have used rainmeter a lot, but stopped using it after creating a skin that was eating 60MB of RAM.

 

Here is a screenshot of the skin I made for rainmeter.

 

Now I use Windows 7 Gadgets from http://addgadgets.com, in my Windows 7 and Windows 8 computers, they only eat 25MB of RAM. If you want to use Windows 7 Gadgets in Windows 8 and 8.1, download a thing called http://8gadgetpack.net/.
