Hey guys,

I built a new gaming PC last month and I've been having screen tearing during gaming, video playback, video streaming (YouTube, Vimeo), and even when viewing 2D images like Amazon product photos and even charts on Excel. All my software including BIOS has been updated. GTX 980 driver is up to date with version 344.75. MB Bios version date is 9/30/2014, also latest version.

PC specs:

  • OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
  • MB: ASUS Z97-a
  • CPU: Intel i7-4790k
  • GPU: EVGA NVIDIA GTX 980 Superclocked
  • RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz (8x2)
  • PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 850W G2
  • SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 500GB
  • HDD: WD 2TB (Black)

Here are things I've tried:

  • Set monitor to 60Hz refresh rate
  • Enabled V-Sync and Triple buffering
  • Updated my GPU driver, rolled it back, and tried the beta version of a new driver
  • Completely uninstalled my GTX 980 and reinstalled it
  • Tried 2 displays with different HDMI cables
  • Removed my GPU completely and used onboard VGA display
  • Used each RAM stick individually

None of these have worked. It's driving me insane ; ; Any help would be really appreciated here. Thanks!

Maybe its your monitor. Test your system on a nother monitor/tv.

Maybe use a diffrent cable like HDMI, DVi, VGA, DP
