Hey all,

Just build a new PC but I'm still using my old GTX 760 this is my new build (without 760)

Coolermaster Storm Stryker

Coolermaster Vanguard 1000W

MSI X99S Gaming 9 ACK

Intel i7 5930k

16G DDR4 Corsair Vengeance 2400Mhz LPX

Corsair Neutron 256GB

Corsair H100i (using 2x Phobya Nano G 12 Silent)

NZXT HUE LED Controller

3x Phobya Nano G 12 Silent (2 in intake and 1 in exhaust)

So like i said still using my GTX 760 which with the build honestly makes no sense.

I was wondering what setup i should go for 2x R9 290x, 2x GTX 970 or a GTX 980?

Im going for a surround/eyefinity setup as well.

My main thing is i want this to look aesthetically pleasing so i am going towards using the R9 290x due them not using the crossfire bridge.

What are you thoughts on this?

Btw I will getting the MSI Gaming models of which ever one of these cards is most suggested. I am unfortunately not lucky enough to be able to get the 8G version of the R9 290x in my country.

Thanks in advance for the feedback :D and i apologise if I've posted this in the wrong place.

Most people will say 2 970's, if you have a wide budget than 2 980's and if neither of these, could wait till I think it was February? That the new 980 8GB and AMD 300 series will be released. Could be wrong but yeah

I heard that the 8G wasn't happening for the 980. but i heard the 980Ti or 990 with 6GB or something along those lines. but yeah i was thinking of waiting for the 390X which sounds like it will be awesome.

Yeah, I heard that but I wasn't sure, planning on waiting as well to see whether or not it happens, either way my current choice is either 2 980's or wait plus its only about 2 months away, if lucky prices might decline <3

the reason i questioned my want for a GTX 970 SLI was due to the only decent SLI bridge being from EVGA. I really dont want to ruin the the asthetics of the build by throwing either a different brands bridge or a ugly copperish bridge. anyone know of any other pretty bridge connectors?

Dude if your worried about the crappy tape looking SLI bridge they give you in the box go onto Nvidia's website and they will sell you an all aluminum SLI bridge and you can always re-paint it in your color scheme. And I would recommend this Gigabyte GV-N970G1 GAMING-4GD over the EVGA or MSI one, unless one of those brands fit your theme. Below is a link to the SLI bridges by Nvidia.

Does that SLI Bridge have RGB lighting? or would I have to change out the LED? And I have had issues with Gigabyte in the past so i dont often get their hardware anymore and I've been very happy with performance from MSI Gaming hardware.

It has a LED inside of it but im assuming because it has a green outer cover that it would be a white LED so you should just be able to get away with painting the outer cover to change its color.

Did you consider the Phanteks Enthoo Primo (or Luxe)? (Both cases include lighting and a lighting controller. They are available in white.) Are the cases available to you? You probably wouldn't need the additional fans.

Are the Nzxt Kraken X61, Swiftech H220-X or Swiftech H240-X cpu coolers available to you? While they are more expensive than the H100i, they are all better and quieter. They also offer more attractive presentations, IMO.

Any data I have seen on x8 vs x16 PCIe 3.0 when gaming suggests that there is no real performance difference. You might consider going with the i7-5820K.

Going with 9xx Nvidia gpu would allow a smaller psu and quieter operation. Depending on needs, a single GTX 980 would be a good start. This would allow for the addition of a second at some future time.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
