I was wondering if there actually is an Xbox 360 / PS3 emulator, and if so what would that emulator be named?

There are none and if you see one its not legit. It will be many years before we see a X360 emulator.

What would be the reasoning for not seeing one for many years?

It's hard to emulate -- current top tier computers aren't powerful enough to emulate it.

And now that the PS4/Xbone use vastly different architecthures than the 360/ps3 its highly unlikely they will ever become emulated (at least not until they're in the realm of "vintage" systems, at which point computers will be able to emulate them and they will become a novelty -- like the SNES).

the amount of power required to run the emulator would be incredible. I remember looking this up because I was wondering about a ps3 emulator.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

Emulating requires lots of processing power, which no computer can deliver currently. We are just now being able to emulate the Playstation 2 smoothly, and look at how old that machine is lol.

They are cheap because of the RROD problem, it's a pretty easy fix tho.

Yeah, so many people threw them out when the fix really is not that hard

Yeah, just re-flow the solder. Can be done with a towel.

oh, I thought RROD had something to do with the chip actually burning up.

welp, learn something new everyday.

That might be one cause. It's overheating generally causing the solder to melt. It's only sometimes recoverable.

Probably not available to the public. Seems like a private Microsoft application

There is none, the architecture on the X360 is hard to emulate on X86. The X360 emulators that you find are probably a gateway to trojans and viruses.

To put this in an easier perspective, Here's a graph showing the technological advancement in computing:

speed-technological-advancement_20years.

With how fast tech is advancing, wait 5 years and you'll see Xbox 360 emulators everywhere :) (part of this has to do with Moore's law I think)
