Motherboard compatability

Hi All,

I have a Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD3H motherboard.  I was looking through the FAQ on the Gigabyte website and noticed one of the Q and A referenced the maximum weight of the CPU cooler.  The answer for my board was up to 450g.  Decided to go out and look at sub 450g coolers and let's just say I'm not finding anything I like aesthetically (yet).

I looked up my board on PC Part Picker Canada and noticed they had a "compatible cooler" link.  The list they provide though is listing coolers that are well above 450g.  Can I assume then that the PC part picker list is simply a list of socket 1150 compatible coolers?  I'm thinking so, because it seems difficult on some mobo models to even find this info.

Sucks that my board can't support a dual tower.  Some of them look so bad ass.  There's just something about the single tower that looks off.  Maybe because they're asymetrical or something.  Suppose I could add a second fan.  As you can see I'm concerned about looks, but only because I would only be using a moderate overclock and I don't need the absolute best.

Any recommendations at all?  (Other than 212 evo =P)  Price isn't a concern right now.

Thanks!

Weight limit is only valid if cooler has no backplate. So all coolers that come with backplate will be fine. I have same board and I'm using Noctuas U14S. It has good mounting which keeps it in place. I've been on LAN with it attached.

The reason why mobo manufacturers put weight limit is to prevent RMAs due to too heavy coolers breaking PCB. Standoffs keep mobo in place and distribute weight of components such as expansion cards and smaller coolers. Backplate does same for heavier coolers. It basicly switches from mobo PCB taking all the weight to metal backplate taking coolers weight.
