Hello, this is my first post here so I figured it would be meaningful to ask if I should potentially upgrade my system. I've had it for 28 months now and no issues what so ever have occurred but with new technologies coming within the next year, I feel like I might be lagging behind in gaming with games getting larger and more demanding (while being terribly optimized). 4k also being an upcoming prospect as displays get cheaper. Specs:

NZXT Switch 810

EVGA GTX 480

Intel Core i5 3570k @ 3.4 ghz

Asus z77 lk

Ocz 80 plus gold 850 watt psu

Samsung blu ray drive

Sandisk extreme 120 gb ssd

Hitachi 1tb hdd

Samsung 840 pro 240 gb ssd

Corsair h100 cooler

Corsair Vengeance 8gb ram

I would appreciate any suggestions that also pertain to cleaning out my boot ssd (the 120 gb is down to about 6) and my 1 tb (about 170 left).

First that graphics card needs to be upgraded we are now on the 980's man.

Otherwise it looks like a solild build.

This is my opinion, it doesn't mean I'm right and is liable to change at any time. I may offend of which I apologize in advance.

Honestly, that GPU is fine unless you're trying to play AAA games on 1080p ultra. It's basically equivalent to a GTX 760 these days in performance. So long as you're still getting good framerates on the games you play, you're fine.

Otherwise, upgrade the GPU. Defintely don't touch that CPU.
