Alright guys I've decided to do a full PC upgrade since some Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales are out, I don't see any better prices anytime soon. I really don't feel like waiting till Q4 for Skylake which we don't even know how good it will be. Here's the plan so far:

$300 - Intel i7 4790k  http://www.amazon.com/Intel-i7-4790K-Processor-Cache-BX80646I74790K/dp/B00KPRWAX8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1417394908&sr=8-1&keywords=4790k

$200 - Asus Maximus VII Hero Z97 - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K2MASE4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

$109 - Samsung 840 EVO SSD http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E3W1726/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

$95 after rebate - EVGA SuperNova 850G2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438018&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

$69 - WD Black 1TB  http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-Cache-Desktop-WD1003FZEX/dp/B00FJRS6FU/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1417395176&sr=1-1&keywords=wd+black

$69 - Windows 8.1 Pro w/student discount http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/pdp/Windows-8.1-Pro-for-Students/productID.288769600

$???? - WHAT RAM SHOULD I GET?

Phanteks Enthoo Luxe (Already Owned)

EVGA FTW GTX 970 (Already Owned)

Current Total Cost: $842

I figure ram will cost me at least $100 maybe close to $150, I want to go with 12GB or 16GB. I'm also going to be replacing my CPU block, and pump/res. I figure that to cost around $200. Overall the build will probably cost me a little over $1000. Selling my Xbox 360 and PS3, I hope to get at least $200 with some games and stuff. I expect total cost for this upgrade to be less than a grand.

Anything I could do better on this build? Let me know as I will be ordering before Cyber Monday ends, maybe even tonight.

Current PC build: [CPU: Intel i7 8700k] [GPU: GTX 1070 Asus ROG Strix] [Ram: Corsair LPX 32GB 3000MHz] [Mobo: Asus Prime Z370-A] [SSD: Samsung 970 EVO 500GB primary + Samsung 860 Evo 1TB secondary] [PSU: EVGA SuperNova G2 750w 80plus] [Monitors: Dual Dell Ultrasharp U2718Qs, 4k IPS] [Case: Fractal Design R5]

Looks pretty solid! Any RAM will do, I think the HyperX Fury looks great if you want to do a theme build.

Are you going to run it on the stock cooler?

It will be water cooled. My GPU will be water cooled too when the block is released in January. Unfortunately that will run me another 100+ bucks for that block.

Oh wow, I read that replacing the res/block part too and it went in and out of my brain haha.

This is with the parts you already have.

Without them, the price should be much much lower.

What would be your reasoning behind these parts? Most of them won't work for me. To start the i5 isn't a bad choice, but I figured I may as well put in the extra $90 for the best quad core I could get. CPU cooler, I'm going to be water cooling. If I did want to air cool, I have a Noctua NH-U14s sitting around. I already have two Alphacool rads I will be using for my CPU/GPU loop, so air cooling is kind of not an option at this point as I have dedicated money to water cooling. Why the motherboard? I decided on the Z97-A because it is highly recommended and I really like Asus software and fan control system. I'm not sure what the Gigabyte would have over the Asus for $5 more. The memory is fine and a good choice. The Crucial is also fine but really basically the same price, ya you get a few more GBs I also considered that one. I thought WD black was the best performance, my HDD now is pretty shit....I didn't want to make the mistake of skimping out on my HDD like I did originally. Is the blue just as good? The PSU recommendation is fine and saves a decent amount of cash, however I have the possibility of going SLI with 970s in the future later this year if I need to, so I wanted to have that option available. Also I will be running a decent amount of fans on this system, as well as a D5 pump which will suck up some power. The 750/850 from EVGA are pretty neck and neck with prices right now so I figured I may as well get the 850 for a like $10 more.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor is ENOUGH for gaming.

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler is the best fan cooler for $30, and with this you can overclock ^ to 4.0Ghz to match the 4790k one, and STILL have acceptable temps.

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI ATX LGA1150 Motherboard is cheaper than your asus Z97-A, they are literally the same thing, no change at all.

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-2133 Memory standard RAM.

Storage: Crucial MX100 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive great SSD for it's price, and of course, it's capacity.

Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive standard HDD, great price, 7200RPM, and 64MB cache.

Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply great PSU for it's price, it's modular and 80+ gold efficiency. This should be able to keep up with SLI 970s not sure about your fans, since you didn't say anything about them in OP.

Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer standard optical drive, just in case, since I find myself using them quite often.

Operative System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro - 64-bit (OEM) (64-bit) latest OS by Microsoft, rumors say they will give Windows 10 to Windows 8.1 Pro users for free.

If you don't like anything, feel free to change it.

Alright well thanks for the input. I'll be getting 8.1 Pro, I'm glad to hear that rumor as I'm looking forward to Windows 10.
