Easiest way to solve the issue would to be buy a faster HDD or buy an SSD

you are running out of ram and starting to use hdd cache.

Defrag and clean the drive, that should help, but bottom line the best you can do is get an SSD.

Have you umm, tried removing some stuff? Games you don't play, movies you don't watch, etc.

 

Or else you might just have to get another harddrive for all of the excess stuff.

 

Edit: Or if you're talking about RAM. If RAM is used to 100%, then it starts using your harddrive. Which is bad, because harddrives are super slow compared to RAM.

The less often you do it and the more space you have used, the more it takes. The function has to go through byte on your drive and sort them in a tidy manner.

it will take forever again. and it most likely wont even help. check how much pagefile you are using when the slowdowns happen.
