Hello everyone,

I came across this video building the workstation.

On time - 8:05 it is mentioned that there is a feature on the motherboard that will allow you to run the 2.2GHz CPU to max turbo 2.8GHz  at all times

I have the same motherboard with dual xeon E5-2687W which stock clock is 3.2GHz and Turbo 3.8Ghz.

I tried reading through the manuals of this motherboard and I could not find that feature.

The only thing I could find and change was in BIOS "CPU Management Configuration" the - Energy Performance, I changed that from (Balanced Performance) to (Performance) that did not seam to make much difference as I run it at 100% load and the Boost will jump to 3.4GHz max.

I would appreciate if you guys could help out as I would really like to max out the performance of my machine.

Maybe someone has a similar system and has this feature enabled?

Thank you all,

You can't really make all the cores to work at turbo Boost maximum frequency.

Yes you can. I have all cores on my 3570K working at 4.7GHz when the load gets high.

Unlocked processor dude, you can do whatever you want, even fry it :P

OK, according to Intel paper, it can be activated for all cores, if temperature, current and power limits permit it and if needed.

The better idea is to switch it off. No matter what all cores never really go full boost when it is on. Which is very annoying.

Hi guys,

thanks for your replies,

well this is what I am saying, in the video Windle is stating that the motherboard itself has a feature that needs to be switched on to enable CPU's to use maximum GHz available once at 100% load. He is saying that the CPU's used for the build were running at max 2.8GHz at all times.

My CPU's are running at 3.4 Ghz I have never seen them being at 3.8GHz ((max) (xeons are locked and can't be overclocked)) . I tend to render for long period of times and if there is a way to "force" the processors to use the maximum 3.8GHz I would like to enable it.

My cooling for CPU's is - Corsair H90 closed water cooling.

Windle I hope you are here and can post what you did to that motherboard!!!

You can't really make all the cores to work at turbo Boost maximum frequency.

You can my Xeon E3 1230v3 is running @ 3.7GHz on all cores when its under load.

I fear its not possible because its an 8 core, the power consumption would be too far out of the specifications especially with AVX code running.

hmm,.. I am a little puzzled at the moment, he has the same board and CPU family.

Had a quick look, the E5-2630 does have 6 cores, so maybe having 8 and all at 3.8GHz would be an overkill. Having said that, the specs for the E5-2687W are stock - 3.2GHz and turbo up to 3.8GHz.

I guess I'll just have to live with it.

I appreciate your input on this guys!

Thanks
