Hi all,

I am posting because my computer that I build recently crashed for no apparent reason whilst gaming or just browsing the web.

my pc specs are:

amd athlon x4 760k @3.8ghz (no overclock)

sapphire r7 260x (no overclock)

msi a78m-e35

corsair cx600

kingston hyperx fury 8gb 1866mhz

western digital 1tb hard drive

corsair spec 03

dvd drive (don't know model num)

 a few led strips

windows 8.1 64bit pro edition

I have looked in the windows event viewer and it showed critical error, the id was 41 and it said " the system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first". The file attached is a pic of the error code post-165594-0-37277200-1417346715_thumb. but of it in windows 7 ultimate 64bit instead as I tried that to eliminate a software problem.I have already changed my power supply once as reading forums that was apparently the most likely cause, I have also brought another 4gb stick of ram (hence the 8gb) to eliminate ram as a potential problem as well.

Any feedback would be appreciated as I would like to get this solved as soon as possible.

Thanks

Oh my god I've been getting the exact same problem on this Sony Vaio.

I have no answer other than "try disabling your audio devices one at a time to see if that fixes it" which didn't for me. I think it's a bugged update for 8.1.

From what I've read, Error 41 (63) is caused by Windows finding out on start that it didn't shut down properly, but never gives a reason as to why.

This must be your mainboard, or ram.

BUT, new bios updates are aviable with improved memory compatibility.

- Updated AMD AGESA code. - Improved memory compatibility.

Visit www.msi.com , search for your model, Go to download -> Bios -> select the newest bios update

PLEASE READ YOUR MAINBOARD MANUAL, you will need a usb stick, format it in the correct format, copy the bios on the stick, reboot system and enter bios. This should be selfexplaining, "M-Flash" you select your usb device and the file (bios update) and it will flash, DON´T TURN OFF, DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING WHILE FLASHING BIOS, DON`T EVEN LOOK AT THE SCREEN (joke)

Quickest way to brick a motherboard with this problem. :)

Hi again, I am worried about flashing the bios as I really don't understand how to and am worried that I will brick the motherboard, if I need to I will contact a professional to flash it but before I do that is there anything else I could try before coming to the conclusion that it is the bios.

any feedback would be grateful.

Flashing the mobo's bios is really easy. All you gotta do is follow the instructions, if still something goes wrong you can safely hit yourself because you're stupid.

I've found one probable solution that requires changing some power settings in Windows but I can't even get it to stay on.

This is a really useless post. What was your reason for posting this crap?

Are you literally calling my post crap without stating a reason.

That is one of the most hypocritical things I have ever seen.

So, in germany msi does have a support where you can send your mainboard in and let them flash it for 25$ (www.msi-shop.de)

Didn´t find somewhere else.

If you want to flash:

Step 1: insert a USB stick in the back of your computer, not the front.

Step 2: Go to "computer" where your hdd, cd drive and your plugged in usb stick is detected.

Step 3: Rightklick on the Usb icon and klick on "Format". Select the format "FAT32 (Standart) not ntfs, not exFAT, also select fast format, click "start"

Step 4: After it is formatted, You will have to download the bios ( http://www.msi.com/support/mb/A78M-E35.html#down-bios )

click on the red button "download", extract the downloaded file, open the folder until you find 3 files, "7721vUx" "AFUDE238" and "E7721AMS.U50" These 3 files need to be copied on to your plugged in usb stick.

Step 5: Restart your computer, spam the key "delete", until you reach the bios, there is a big icon with the name "M-FLASH"

double klick on it, select your USB stick with double klick, the bios to be flashed that is located on your usb stick will display, double klick on it, it will start to flash. A window will apear showing the process of the bios flash, the mouse won´t move trough the whole process. I recommend you to lay back and trying not to touch anything. Don´t even think of removing the usb stick while it is flashing.

Step 6: Option1/It boots multiple times, if it is stupid, it selects your usb stick because it is thinking thats where the operating system is located, if it is in a booting loop, spam "delete" key and select your HDD where windows is installed.

Option 2/If it is acting right it will ask you want to go to your bios or run the default settings. I recommend you to go to the bios and use the settings you used before, HDD as first bootable device, fan profile etc.

Bios is finished

Computer turns off randomly, tries flashing, bricks motherboard. See the problem here?

Not to mention the pointless insult in your post.
