Hello guys!

I just got myself a new g3258 with asrock z97 extreme3 motherboard. I wanted to overclock the cpu and ran into some interesting readings. In CPU-Z it says that the base clock is at around 94,75 Mhz and it doesn't move alot (maybe up to 95 or sometimes 96 but rarely), so instead of my wanted multiplier overclock of 4,5Ghz a get around 4,265. In the bios, i left the base clock at auto, and when i saw this problem i set it to 100 fixed, but it still stays under 95, so i cannot achieve my wanted overclock. Also, in the system task manager, it doesn't recognize my oc, it says it's at 3,2 ass well as in cinebench, although results of single core are better than 4770k, so i know it is indeed overclocked. I also ran 3dmark and in the system info it also states my frequency is 4268Mhz, so CPU-Z is showing right. What do i have to do to keep base clock at 100Mhz? This is my first time owning and overclocking intel, so any help from you guys will be greatly appreciated.

I did, like i said in my post, it didn't make a difference

maybe its a bug in the bios. check if there is a bios update for the board on the asrock website.

I looked trough the internet and found nothing about lower than normal base clock, so i will post the solution here, if someone else faces this issue. I contacted asrock support and it turns out that the problem was in the hyper-v. Looks like if you have hyper-v and virtualisation in the bios enabled, it turns down the base clock(i still don't know why). So after disabling that, i got my base clock back up to 100 and since then i achieved oc of 4.6Ghz@1.33V stable.
