I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

I would definitely go with an ssd. It's at a price where 120gb boot drives are available for $50 or even less if you get lucky. The benefits of ssd's go beyond just a speed increase. You also get better reliability, reduced noise, and reduced power consumption.
