Download MSI Afterburner, up the clocks a bit, test with a game, make the clocks higher or lower depending on results.

Do I have to leave the afterburner on during gameplay?

yes it will always be running, it's very light and very useful, you can use it to display all your stats on screen while gaming if you want it to...control your fans...etc...you WANT this running...always.

Yeah, leave it open. In fact have it start with Windows.

Thanks, what about limits? Any idea how much my card can overclock?

I'd just go up by 100MHz until you get instabilities.  Maybe more though, if you want to get it done faster.

you will see two sliders (one for powerlimit the other for overvoltage) push those two as far as they go (you cant harm anything those are VERY limited to make sure you won't hurt your card) and then start increasing the core clockspeed of the card by about +100 mhz and test...then +120 and test etc. until the driver crash...then back it off by 20...and then do the same with the memory slider.

If it crashes will the card be damaged or smth? Haha sry if it's a stupid question. I feel stupid typing it tbh.

no absolutely not you'll most likely be re-directed to your desktop with a message saying the driver has crashed just reboot the computer...in the event that the computer would lock up (can happen as well) just reset and boot back.,..you can't hurt anything.

you pushed both power sliders and added +100MHZ on the core and got a crash?

Yeah... don't do that. :)

Just keep adding increments of 10-20 MHz until it's unstable (driver crashes, game crashes, artifacting) and then back off. You have a 970, so it should get anywhere from 1200-1500ish MHz depending on luck.

Well done! I hope I can get clock speeds like that when I get my 970 in the coming weeks. Do you have the MSI GTX 970 Gaming? Or the tiger one?
