kilobyte: 1024 bytes

megabyte: 1024 kilobytes 

gigabyte: 1024 megabytes

No. Not really. A megabit is a million 1s and 0s.

As far as I know, a bit is an eighth of a byte.

A byte is made up of 8 bits.

In computing terms, a bit is just a 1 or 0, so a byte is a string of 8 1's or 0's.

Basically mega bit is a interface speed and mega byte is a measurement of throughput i guess is the best way i can say it.

This is probably going to be confusing, but here we go:

Kilobyte = kB = 1000 bytes

Kibibyte = KiB = 1024 bytes

Difference 2,4%

Megabyte = MB = 1000kB

Mebibyte = MiB = 1024 KiB

Difference = 4,86%

Gigabyte = GB = 1000MB

Gibibyte = GiB = 1024MiB

Difference = 7,37%
