Hi, I recently decided to build my first wc loop, unfortunetly I got a leak on one of the ports in my rad, at first, I thought it was my fitting so I switched it out and it still leaked on the excact same spot, so, seeing as there were 3 inlets and 3 outlets, I just changed where the fitting was and sealed the port with the cap that came with it. Well it still leaked with the cap on, so I know there is some kind of problem with the threading inside of the port and not my fittings. Anyways I saw on one thread that this guy uses some sort of acrilic glue that hardens into in the small cracks of the threading and prevents leaks, that he puts a couple drops on the fittings threads ( or in my case the caps threads) and it would prevent leaks from that thread or port. Unfortunetly his link to the glue/resin was dead and I was wondering if anyone knew of a place I could get something like this or if they have ever had a situation like mine?

   -Thank You

P.S my rad is an Alphacool UT60

Go to your local hardware store (not computer hardware as in like a ACO or home depot) and ask for thread tight or plumbers tape. Also make sure it isn't linking from somewhere other than the treads.

Edit* Also make sure your fittings don't require an O-ring, if they do you need to put one on.

the fitting did have an o ring, but the caps didnt, yet none of the other caps had them and theyre sealed just fine, the rad didnt come with o-rings, but I can try to put one of the extras that came with the fitting on the cap that came with the rad, although im not sure itll do anything.

If you're intending to use Loctite or anything similar, be ready to never get that fitting loose again, at least not without some phenominal effort. Loctite *may* stop leaks, but it's mainly intended to secure threaded items into their sockets pretty much permanently. Try silicon tape (the white wax paper-like stuff that goes in your shower head) first, just to see if that's actually the problem. Before you do anything else though, I would take a really close look at the actual threads of your rad and your fittings, make sure they aren't stripped or are cross threading or anything like that. You should have very clean threads on both the male and female sides. Burrs, metal flakes, portions of thread missing, or gouges will prevent your fitting from sitting properly.

Also feel free to ask the employees at your local hardware store about what might help. The concepts are pretty much the same between sealing plumbing and sealing a radiator, so even though they're not likely to be able to help with your rad specifically, they can at least point you at some things that will possibly help stop the leaks.

my rad is an Alphacool UT60

you could use a product called Teflon tape, plumbers tape/dope. be careful in not using

an excessive amount as the left-overs can get released into the radiator.

i'd deffo let alphacool know your issue and as well as the retailer you purchased it from.

i've gotten 24hr response from alphacool and most of the US retailers are glad to assist.
