I have seen many good and bad reviews on EVGA cards. I am thinking of getting one. I am buying a NZXT H440 case, which require pretty darn good cooling, and the evga sc is a good idea (blower fan) i have seen people hate on it, i have seen people loving it. Im comparing this to the gigabyte g1 970, what is ur guys opinions?

If you get a reference design, it really doesn't matter. Focus on warranty, support and price. The overclock on a pre-clocked card you could also easily replicate yourself with MSI afterburner or similar software.

Case: Meatbag, humanoid - APU: Human Brain version 1.53 (stock clock) - Storage: 100TB SND (Squishy Neuron Drive) - PSU: a combined 500W of Mitochondrial cells - Optical Drives: 2 Oculi, with corrective lenses.

I can only comment on the ACX cooler, I had an ACX 770 and it ran pretty cool (70°C under full load) and was fairly quiet. Customer support, warranty and the step-up program from EVGA are solid value that can negate some of the price difference if you like those sorts of things, overall they're still quite expensive and they don't have the best or the most quiet cooler design on the market. The mixed reviews that you've seen on the 900 series cards is probably due to the fact that they used their old coolers on those cards, causing the heatpipes to not align properly. They were still okay, but that's obviously not an ideal situation. With the ACX 2.0 cooler that should be fixed (but it looks nowhere near as good as the old cooler IMO, sadly. That was such a classy design).

The Evga SC cards are a great bang for the buck but the issue I have with them is they don't come with a stock back plate unless you get it in a bundle which usually costs more then the Gigabyte, or Asus cards that come with one included.

But other then that the cards are Pretty Similar in performance and should be around $349.00
