Windows OEM

I'm about to go out and get Windows 7 or 8.1 in a few hours to accommodate my new build. But, I only have my HDD shipped in and not my SSD. Would I be able to install Windows onto the hard drive for now, then move it over to the SSD in a few days, or would that create a problem?

Y3es, you can, use a tool called clonezilla. You'll have to movce the boot priority to your SSD, then wipe your HDD.

You CAN but dont. Just wait... Clonezilla wont work unless the SSD is bigger than the HDD. Also your licence will deactivate. Not to mention it wont be 4096 aligned on the SSD.

You could just install Windows but don't activate it.

If you've got the SSD you just do a new install and activate it then.

If you need to activate OEM license after you've changed Hardware you most likely have to call the Windows activation Service. That should always work.

 

I wouldn't clone a HDD Windows to a SSD ever.
