Hey everyone, I have a strange problem with my new build I just put together, the power supply keeps "clicking" on and off when I turn my computer on.

It just goes: on, off, on, off, on, off. And it does this every 2-5 seconds until I unplug the power supply. My water cooler's LED remains on whilst it does this, however my GPU's led and my front fans flicker on / off with the power supply, however my back fan / water cooling fan remains off through out the whole thing.

Maybe this video I made will explain what's happening a bit better:

I've tried reseating all the cables and that hasn't helped, so idk what the problem could be.

Any help is appreciated!

i7 4790k

What PSU is it? Sound like the OCP/SCP is getting tripped although it shouldn't restart by itself it either gets tripped

Edit: saw it was an HX 750i. Try unplugging it from everything then run it without any load. Short the green wire on the 24pin to any black wire to turn it on. See if still persists

I've heard of an issue like this before. I think it had something to do with the motherboard stopping the power supply from damaging it or that the power supply isn't supplying the right amount of power to the motherboard and the components causing the on/off loop, The guy replaced the power supply and it didn't do it anymore. You should just RMA it and get a new one i don't think there is anyway round it.

love the title of the video btw.

when the psu restarts over and over again it usually detects a short circuit or some other fault during self check. Do you have any other psu available that you can try powering the motherboard on once just to see weather it does the same thing? Also try running with only the pare minimum of parts plugged in, so unplug everything and try using on board graphics unplug any harddrive any unneccessary fans and so on (unplugging the cpu cooler is a bad idea haha) and see weather is posts into bios. then you can detect any part that might be causing the problem
