Hardware Question

Hello, I have a question more specifically with bottlenecking. I have a "AMD Phenom II X4 965 Processor", I have a "Nvidia GTX 560 GPU". I am planning to upgrade to a "R9 280X Gigabyte Windforce" GPU. Would this bottleneck my cpu, I felt like 4 cores at 3.4 mhz should be fine, but I don't want to limit a new graphics card.

 

I want this PC to be able to play competative games like CS:GO at high FPS and pretty games like Skyrim be pretty and still reasonably smooth. If you think I do need a new CPU or upgrade to a different graphics card then the "R9 280X Gigabyte Windforce", what would be that recommendation.

I'd say upgrade both, but that's just me an I'm one of those people who always wants to have what is newest. It also depends on what you are doing with the PC.

ya they make a 8 core black edition that would fit that slot and be allot better.

if i were you, and i had these 2 options, i would go for the graphics card.

3,4ghz quad core wouldn't bottleneck it to much i guess

Go ahead upgrade the cou if you wish.

Do the 280 also, but if it's released by the time you have the money get the nvidia 900 series equivalent. Newer. Just yeah.

Nope. All good.

If it was quad core 3.4 GHz but with a God awful architecture, or lith whatever, upgrade, but that cpu is great for quite a while.
