Student. Build.

Go to solution Solved by Deletive,

I'm not being a ass about it, did you see me type shit? Obviously i acknowledge he has more knowledge than me, or else i would of been tripping out.  The build is good, but the monitor is lacking which is why i prefer to go the AMD road, even if it doesn't have 8 fucking cores, I can get a better monitor for editing... So if you don't know the other side of the story then don't type some shit you don't know.

Then you should try this build if you want a better monitor.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4440 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($174.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: ASRock H97 Anniversary ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($74.78 @ Newegg)
Memory: Team Zeus Red 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($64.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon R9 280X 3GB Tri-X Video Card  ($199.99 @ Newegg)
Case: NZXT S340 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case  ($64.99 @ Directron)
Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  ($32.99 @ NCIX US)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 - 64-bit (OEM) (64-bit)  ($90.26 @ OutletPC)
Monitor: HP 23xi 60Hz 23.0" Monitor  ($149.99 @ Micro Center)
Total: $891.97
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

1. Budget & Location
My location is the States. My budget is $ 800 for the system. IF you add a monitor in the price then $ 900 max. I prefer everything on Amazon because I can finance it (I'm a student, gotta pay my parents back monthly).

2. Aim.
I'll use it for graphic design, photo editing, video editing in the coming months, and some gaming (I don't buy games). I want my build to have a sort of theme to it (Red/Black or Blue/ Idk White? is preferred). My preferred cases are S340, H440, or other good looking Windowed case. Or a sexy non-windowed case. DON'T RECOMMEND ME INTEL, I'VE ALREADY KNOW I'LL USE HIGHLY THREADED APPLICATIONS.

3. Monitors
1 monitor only, i'll probably add more next year or so. 1080p at least for the monitor, 60 Hz or more.

4. Peripherals
I do need OS in the price.

5. Why are you upgrading?
I have a compaq laptop... Soo that explains everything..

Edit: I had a build recently, but my cousin needed it for his new job so he bought it off me.

You asked for help and got it. Evidently you don't feel comfortable enough with your knowledge in order to make the decision yourself. The person offering his/her opinion has near 3,000 points and 1,000 likes; showing that they are at least somewhat knowledgeable. Don't ask for help then be an ass when someone who knows more about it than you do offers a better solution.

An AMD cpu isn't even a full 8 cores.

Intel 4 cores with hyper-threading is a much better route.

I've used both for all the things you're doing (school) and the Intel is still better.

AMD cores are being straved in some workloads where the Intel with "less" cores will really pull ahead.

Still went $100 over the budget. I would get a core i3 4150 and save some money. Or a 4460.

I don't need to know 'shit.' You need to stop being a dick to other people; you just proved my point, quite literally. Go over your budget for a better monitor. Change the parts. You've got his suggestion, you're able to change parts easily in PcPartPicker. Your argument is invalidated as such.

I obviously wasn't a dick. Did i say anything at all to him? This argument is quite pointless, when a simple comment is misunderstood.
