Is it better to have 2x4gbs or 1x8gb of ram, are there any differences in performance?

2x4GB will run in dual channel. For games, there's no difference. For rendering, editing and such, there will be a bit of an improvement, but not a huge amount.

To be clear.Technically using 2 sticks or ram would be 2x64 bits which in turn doubles maximum theoretical bandwidth this is why is called "dual-channel" because you have 2 channels of 64 bits.In games there's not much of a use maybe max 1-3% maximum but if you have an integrated graphics card it can be a major improvement over a single channel because the data will need a wider bandwidth also when using an integrated graphics card the frequency is also very important.Is also useful for rendering

This is why I wanted to know because I will be upgrading to 16gbs of ram in the future thanks
