So I have a Samsung LCD-TV (Model No: LNS-4041DX/XAA)

jLHV60p.jpg

it was working fine last night (I was watching Gundam 00 S2) this morning I try and turn it on and get a bootup sound, however I get no picture. Instead, I get a quick flash of the pannel light(s) and off it goes.

(the screen, the teelvision itself is still powered on)

After some research and phone conversations with Samsung customer support, I find out these TVs are infamously known for capacitor issues (on the powerboard).

Seems like Samsung used cheap capacitors. sigh.

I opened up the TV and checked the powerboard. to my surprise, all capacitors are fine. none are bulged up or lumpy. yet the board will not power on the LCD.

That powerboard is expensive ($80+) and I'm not sure if this would fix my issue as none of the capacitors seem ruined, yet I think this is a power issue..

I don't know what to do anymore, it looks like I have a huge paperweight now :/ a technician wants $60 for inspection (TV has no warrenty) and $90 for repair +parts cost & tax. $150+.

I don't have this cash on me, sigh. this is so frustrating, I just want to throw it out the window!! :'( I was having so much fun watching anime/movies in my livingroom.. I was even playing emulators on it :(

SPAAAAAACE!!!

I have heard certain allegations of Samsung putting their capacitors in places where they know they will fail (read hot places), this ensures that none of their TVs will live longer then about 5 years (if you're lucky). I don't know if this is true, but it has made me a bit wary of Samsung TVs.

y'know I thought it was overheating issues because the TV emits an insane about of heat from the back. but then I thought

"doubt the board is smart enough to shutdown if it reachs max temps"

but for sure something is wrong with it. and I'm willing to bet its the powerboard, because its just the LCD that isn't powering on properly :/

SAMSUNG IS PERFECT!

On the serious note, throw it out and buy a new TV at black friday...

I'm sorry to see you having an unsatisfactory experience with Samsung products.  :(

Good luck.

EDIT: Try jumping the power board. But it could damage other components so do it as a last resort.

You must be a walking Samsung commercial IRL ^^ (might want to swap out your "Samaung Wireless Mouse" with a Samsung device :) )

But it does the job...

I'll buy a replacement when it dies. :P

You don't really strike me as a "it does the job" kind of person when you're this passionate about Samsung products, then again you might just me trolling all this Samsung stuff.

Well the mice they shipped out isn't that good. (I love the keyboard though)

It's good enough, but Samsung kinda cheaped out on the mice so...

I'll get something like this
