I am going to buy a pc with fx 6300 and r9 280x now i am afraid that this CPU will bottleneck this GPU so what so do you think

yes, but the difference will be about 5-10 fps, Austin Evans has a video on this topic (can't link it because i'm on my phone sorry, search for: is a high end cpu worth it). If you have the budget for it get a fx 8350 for some extra performance

-Edit, fixed some spelling errors

-Edit 2, here's the link: "Do You Need an Expensive CPU for Gaming?: http://youtu.be/qIT9uLDjZcg"

Probably, but if I were you I would get a decent cooler and overclock the snot out of it, and then there would be only a little bottleneck. But if you can, just getting something like an 8350 would be better.

Stop linking his video's please, they're horrible.

He tested a 3570K vs. 860K on a HD7770 iirc. He has no clue.

the video just shows bottlenecking on a low and a high end cpu

-Edit, I think austin is a great guy who knows what he is doing. also, why do you think he is clueless?

that video clearly tells you that you do need a good CPU to run these higher end graphics cards, just look at the results...

also austin is somewhat clueless indeed.

OP the 280X is no sloutch and if you want to get the most out of it defenetly consider a locked core i5 and cheap H97 motherboard instead.

The FX is fine with some games but might struggle in some others.(i know i owned one)

Why am i suggesting that? because in most cases an overclocking ready AMD kit will cost you more in the end than an i5 kit AND will not perform as well EVEN highly overclocked (again my FX-8320 was doing 4.6ghz and was still much slower at gaming than an i5)

Here the example, these are two typical choices both are basicaly as cheap as it gets or close to it, if you factor in the motherboard cost and the cpu cooler for the AMD overclocking it evens out the bills:
