This is my first time posting on the LinusTechTips fourms, but I'm a long time veiwer of the YouTube channel.

 

At the moment I have a Asus G750JW, but Im planning on building a PC around $1500, I put together a list of parts:

Ditch the Black for a Blue, get an EVGA G2 power supply instead, go with a 980 or 970 if you're gaming at 1080p, go with a 4790k processor, use the money saved for an MX100 256gb SSD.

What if I were to get another Asus DirectCU II GTX 780 Ti in the future and do SLI?

 

 

Not worth it both cost and performance wise. 2 970's is likely still a better choice.

Honestly, if you're gaming at 1080p, you don't need anything more.

Okay, how would the Asus Strix GeForce GTX 980 preform?

If you're gaming at 1080p you don't need a 980.

I plan to buy a 4k display in the future  :)

You don't buy for what you might get in the future, buy for what you have now.

Unless you're definitely 100% getting a 4k monitor in the next 6 months.

 

If it's longer than that you're better off selling your card and monitor and upgrading to a newer card and monitor then, when there are more capable cards out.
