Clone physical linux box to virtual machine

Go to solution Solved by rockking1379,

Ehhhhhh you could dd it to a usb drive then setup vm and dd back. But might not work out to well.

I would like to convert my linux box running on physical hardware to a virtual machine.

To be specific, id like to use ProxMox. My server can handle the load, i just need to go through the process of moving the system over.

The system can be turned off during the cloning process, but if it could be kept online that would be great. The disk only has about 40GB on it as a lot of the heavy data is stored on another server.

Has anyone done this before? If so, how would i go about doing it?

Thanks,
