Windows 7 or 8.1?

Have to decide on this. I would choose 7 hands down because it's the best, but I heard the newest version of DirectX won't support Windows 7 (not sure if I would need that?) and it uses resources more than 8.1. 8.1 I heard is also quite an upgrade from Windows 8. I also hear that it uses less resources and makes it faster (not noticeable though). Any thoughts?

I personally think Windows 8.1 is amazing.

 

DX12 will only be available on windows 10+

8.1. 

The rumor is that DX 12 would be exclusive to Windows 10, but I hardly doubt that is really the case.

The performance gained on 8.1 is just worth it compared to 7, and it's also newer.

could be but either way 8.1 is better than 7 (afair cheaper too)

I prefer Windows 8.1 over Windows 7 for the significantly faster startup, faster overall performance, and the much better multi monitor multitasking support (having a taskbar on every monitor that shows the same icons as the primary desktop is so nice to have, I haven't been able to find any app that can replicate the Windows 8 taskbar)

There is absolutely no reason to buy windows 7. Like at all.

 

Windows 8/8.1 is better than windows 7 in every single aspect, therefore windows 7 cannot be the best...
