I have a hard drive from an older computer (February 2014) it has Windows 8 and all of my saved game files. I'm building a new rig and was wondering if i can use this drive to save a bit of money and use it as my boot drive. The other computer has an i7 3770, my new rig has an i7 4790k. (If that means anything).

You might run into issues due to your new PC having a different motherboard.

You can, however you will need to copy the files you want to keep to a different drive (you may be able to use a USB drive, if they're small enough), and from there, you can format the drive, and install Windows. You will run into issues booting into the same install as your old PC, as Aniallation said above.
