1. Budget & Location

Budget: ~$600

Location: U.S.

2. Aim

Not much gaming, like League of Legend for the most part, if I game at all, which doesn’t really require much hardware to run.

Light video editing

Light photoshop usage

3. Monitors

Currently have one 1080p, but might consider a second one in the future of the same resolution

4. Peripherals

Just need OS

5. Why are you upgrading?

First time builder, mostly for the experience of building a pc, though, I don’t really want to just build a pc and not be able to do much with it. I am sort of prioritizing aesthetics over other factors, such as price:performance.

  • Color theme: white + blue

  • Going with Nvidia over AMD because I read about AMD driver issues and because Shadowplay is much more mature than DVR and possibly in home streaming?

  • Want to keep the mATX form factor and a case with handles

  • Want the PSU to be fully modular

*I know, the am3+ platform is dead and whatnot, but I don’t care about things, such as playing on ultra/highest/high settings

I do want this to last for a while doing basic stuff and light editing. Planning purchase these part during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday time frame.

Are there any other good O.C. blue or white themed mATX boards for the fx series that has USB 3?

How is this build? How is the compatibility? No need for any sort of adapters, right?

Thanks!

EDIT: Will probably go with the FX 8300 for $110 [http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=9494387&CatId=7339 ]

DO NOT run FX CPU's with low end AMD mobo's. They don't have sufficient VRMs to power the CPU. Causes heat, unstable OC, etc..

Any good alternative mobo in mATX form factor? I know there's a lot of good ATX mobo for fx, but what about mATX?

I don't recommend building a computer just for the sake of building, you should expect some performance from it.

@Speedyv

Thanks, but I'm sort of prioritizing aesthetics over raw performance :P

I prefer cases with handles, aftermarket CPU coolers over stock and Nvidia over AMD because I read about AMD driver issues and because Shadowplay is much more mature than DVR and possibly in home streaming?

Maybe I'm just too stubborn about those criteria? >.<
