Activating Russian Steam keys

Hey everyone,

 

So I've been tempted from time to time to save a few quid buying a Russian steam key and figuring out how to activate it, but here's my question:

 

Is there any free VPN I can use to activate?

 

Do I need to have a Russian IP every time I attempt to boot the game up?

You probably wont get banned for doing it but they're within their rights to ban you. If you do get banned for it, it'll most likely be when you ask steam to give your account back after a hijack (when they check your account specifically for login locations).

 

Valve are too busy to actually do anything most of the time. They don't have any dedicated customer support at all, just a bunch of devs who answer support tickets/emails on the side.

Edit to clarify- You wont get banned for using a VPN but you may get banned if they believe you're abusing a vpn in order to get a different countries pricing on games.

Using a VPN to activate a game is a violation of the SSA. And will result in your account being suspended

I bought a russian key of bioshock infinite when it was released, and frankly speaking it's just a pain to launch your game on steam. On origin it's easier to do so (you only have russian language but you can launch the game no problems without vpn)

i would advise you to pay a little more and get a region free steam key, it's not worth dealing with all the crap that comes with it

I wouldnt recommend it. Just save up and buy the region free version. Or wait for a sale

Don't bother. Those keys are not legit. A while back Rebellion revoked a bunch of Sniper Elite V2 keys because they bought them from illegal sights like from Russia and the such. I wouldn't take the risk and it's against Steam and Valve's terms of service.
