Over kill PSU and why 290X are they that much cheaper then SLI 970's? Or is it aesthetics? Overkill on the RAM speed to go to 1866 Mhz you won't benifit much on the higher speeds when you are only gaming. For the rest I wanna see the end result xD.

Build is black and yellow. Yellow 970s don't exist. Also it's a 4k build.

Our Grace. The Feathered One. He shows us the way. His bob is majestic and shows us the path. Follow unto his guidance and His example. He knows the one true path. Our Saviour. Our Grace. Our Father Birb has taught us with His humble heart and gentle wing the way of the bob. Let us show Him our reverence and follow in His example. It will be sometime next summer when I am able to finish the build but I do plan on posting pics when done.  Dildor is right I was trying to stay with the overall black and yellow theme for the build.  I guess it wouldn't matter much since I will be water cooling though.  He was also correct about it being a 4k build.  I will take a look at the 1866 RAM.  What is the main difference between 1866 RAM and 2400 RAM besides speed?  I was watching a build that Linus was doing with overclocking and he had 2400 RAM.  That was the only reason I went that route.

I think the biggest question I have for this build is, will the 480 radiator adequately cool the loop that goes radiator, cpu, mobo chipset, then vga cards?  Also do you think it would sacrifice any performance if i went to a 2 x 8 GB RAM at 1866?  I found some with a Cas Latency of 9 instead of 10 like the original set I have listed above.

I'd strongly suggest waiting a while on the GPUs.

290x lightning is a great card, especially at 400 dollars with the price drop, but the 390x, or even the 980, make it kinda silly.

I'd suggest waiting for the 980 lightning/390x lightning which are sure to come.

Edit; or 980 TI lightning?

Specs: 4790k | Asus Z-97 Pro Wifi | MX100 512GB SSD | NZXT H440 Plastidipped Black | Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler | MSI 290x Lightning | EVGA 850 G2 | 3x Noctua Industrial NF-F12's

Bought a powermac G5, expect a mod log sometime in 2015

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it

Do you know if there will be any water blocks released when the 390x comes out?  I just read the 390x will be out at the beginning of next year.  Have you heard the same thing?

I heard 1st half of 2015 originally, and that has sinced narrowed down to 1st quarter.

It will theoretically ship with a 120mm watercooling unit like the 295x2, which may or may not be modular.

Waterblocks will be available shortly after release from EK though for sure.

So would 1 390x be better than 2 290x?

Well, with the way it's looking now, it's quite possible.

one 390x would probably be just behind two 290x if i had to place a bet
