I'm sorry, and I'm asking this because I don't want to insult the mentally disabled...

are you mentally retarded?

Not like me to call people out on this forum, but that's potentially the dumbest thing I've read here in a long time.

I literally laughed out loud when I saw that picture. Props to you sir, and that perfectly describes my reaction to his post.

I'm sorry, I get kind of defensive when Im high. I dont even know what the fuck it is I wrote myself.

It is true however that you people are exaggerating the heat produced by  newer AMD cards.

Sorry if my post offended your entire family, but I get kind of defensive when I'm high...

Dude, no I'm not. Just one card can heat up my whole room nice and toasty during the winter. I used frequently use a rig to keep my coffee warm using folding/furmark.

The reference 290 and 290x have a very well known issues with being really fucking loud.

That said, it's not an issue if you have a non-reference card with a  good cooler, like a windforce or something. It isn't like their CPUs, which produce a ton of heat and consume a ton of power but under perform intel. I rather like them pushing their GPUs to the absolute limit. I mean, I wish nvidia would have taken the watercooling route on the titanz

Right now I have a powercolor r9 290x. I am selling it because it's both too hot and loud. I was sure that I should get a gtx 970 instead. But then I just saw that Amd is going to release the r9 300 series in February 2015. They will probably not make the same cooling mistake like on the 290(x)... And are using hbm and have other nice and good features. The problem is when I would first sell my Gpu in February 2015 it will probably go for almost nothing. So should I sell it now and get the gtx 970 or wait until then?

Any recommendations what I should do?

(I know I already posted this but my old thread ended in a discussion if the r9 290x really gets hot or not)

300 series will also run hot... All AMD cards since ever run hot.

If quite and cool is what you are after the 970 is without a doubt your best bet.

The cooler was leaked for the 300 series. It looks pretty good. There are rumors that it should be water cooled just like the r9 295x2.

So no problem with that.

Well since OP it seems you are considering a future AMD product that will come out in February 2015 you have to wait.  Simple as that.

I will say though consider Green Team please with The Witcher 3 coming out and support PhysX.  Nvidia ... play games the way they were meant to be played.  GL with your pc hardware purchases and have fun gaming.

Too many ****ing games!  Back log 4 life! :S

If you want a solution now that is also transferable when the 300 series does come out look into cooling your GPU with a universal water block.

IE a custom loop with a universal block or an AIO with a universal mounting system.

Both will cool down your current card and remove the need to run the fans loud and they will be transferable to your new GPU even if it has awful cooling.

I have already considers that. But it would be cheaper to sell my card and buy a gtx 970.
