Too long bios post time

Go to solution Solved by galof3,

I found something else.It may also be the controllers itself.Saw someone saying that there's big differente between marvel and intel controllers.Try using another port

Disabling UEFI seemed to improve time a little bit... Since it gave so much trouble to try and improve it I'll just leave it as is.

My Pc takes around 30 seconds to boot. I have two ssd's, one with windows installed and the other with ubuntu and its grub. So my boot drive is the second.

A normal boot time, I think, would be around 10-16 seconds, but 10 seconds is what it takes my motherboard to get to the Gigabyte Logo screen (incidentally I don't have a case

speaker so I don't really know when it posts, the LED display is too fast). I disabled then the option of showing the gigabyte logo and enabled fast boot (not ultra fast, that gave me some trouble) but

there was no luck. Any ideas nice gentlemen (and ladies)?

USB devices plugged: Keyboard (and it's hub, though nothing is really connected), mouse, webcam and optical drive.

No raids.

Did you check the boot priority?Did you enable achi?

Yes, it boots from the correct drive and both have AHCI active (I guess you meant AHCI)

There's something that is messing with the controller.Try this i know is sounds pathetic but after some google research it may be one of these.Boot into windows and go to ms config and select a diagnostic startup.Shut down the pc and remove all external drivers(hdd if you have also the optical drive and the sdd with unbunut on it) and boot into windows again. Please come back with the result if it doesn't work then try a fresh install. Also i hope you set to ahci before formating the ssd if not well this can be a problem too

I just rebooted to windows with the diagnostic startup but nothing changed except for the theme which is now classic.... well, that and no programs started up automatically...

Booting in diagnostic mode takes like 10 seconds less but that could well be just because I'm not loading the grub to choose ubuntu or windows and can't tell if it affected the initial

problem with the motherboard taking 10 seconds to post (again, don't know when it really posts now even less because I can't see the grub screen).

I did remove everything but the drive with windows. And now I don't know how to go back to booting without memory diagnostics so I can't even play mp3 :( stupid me, don't mind that.

nah, don't. But really, what was the purpose of booting with diagnostics? Should some message have popped up? nothing did, it was all the same but without the aero theme (which I still can't enable). And I really think the problem is before windows or grub or ubuntu or anything get involved... Maybe some ram settings have to be checked every time, I did OC my cpu to 4.4GHz and don't remember if the booting time has ever changed...

And when I did the diagnostics thingy I just checked diagnostic startup, clicked ok, shut down, disconnect drives and boot again. Doing the opposite and checking normal boot does not boot to the former config... Even the screens are switched xD

also there should be a intel check on the sata driver if that is on turn it off

sata driver in the bios' sata config? I thought that would do more good than harm but ok... since we are on the intel topic, should I disable more intel related options? like "lan megaoverunlocking" or whatever ...

I disabled intel's rapid start too... it seemed a bit paradogic and disabling the others didn't seem to make a difference, maybe reenabling rapid start?

The diagnostic laungh was for me to know if there's a program that can cause the problem.Juts go to ms config again and change to normal startup.

It's ok, saved by restoring to an earlier time
