Want To OverClock My AMD CPU.

I want to Over-Clock my CPU.

I have AMD FX-6300 Black Edition.

 

And I use Cooler Master Hyper 212X for cooling.

 

How much should I overclock??

What's your MoBo? Many AM3+ MoBos really don't have the power delivery to overclock.

 

If your MoBo is good, then you have to play the chip lottery and see how far your chip will go. There is no one right answer for overclocking. It's a guess-and-check kind of thing.

Follow this guide.  A nice contribution by someone from the actual LTT community.  It was easy to follow and got me to finally overclock my son's pc properly.

My son's cpu got to 4.51 GHz.  I ran Prime 95 for 24 hrs.  Voltage set for 1.380 but was showing as 1.392 in vcore in BIOS.

I have Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3....And a decent Corsair 650 Watt PSU....

It's not the greatest but 4 GHz should be doable.

And whatch temps if they go above 85 on amd cpus it will throttle.
