I'm planning for my first build. it's going to be a gaming rig.

Budget is 1500,--

I'm planning on running a single 1080p monitor.

I Don't peripherals and I have an OS.

I have put something together myself:

  • I5-4670K
  • MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming
  • MSI GeForce GTX 770 2gb Twin Frozr OC
  • Mushkin Redline 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC-12800 CL7
  • Samsung 840 Series 120GB
  • Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 ST300DM001, 3TB
  • Corsair AX760
  • Cooler Master Hyper 412S
  • Corsair 650D

I think this is a pretty beastly rig, gotta save up some more before i buy it.

I wanted to hear some opinions on it, am i spending too much on something, too little on something, just give me your opinion.

Edit: Swapped out the PSU and CPU cooler for the XFX PRO750 Watt and the corsair H100i. The psu was overpriced as mentioned by blade of grass and the money I saved by doing that is going to a H100i For the overall sleeker look

Edit 2: Going to add some red sleeved PSU cable extensions to match the color scheme

thats is a perfect build imo! just make sure the ram is ok...idk if cl7 is better or cl11 is better ik most kits are cl9...so make sure about that...and 1600mhz ram is enough :D

that psu is kinda big...but it leaves you with enough headroom to sli and such :D

the cooler for 70$$ id say put the extra and get an h100i...personally i dont like that weight on my mobo...and well the h100i will go well with a 650D and it helps for general airflow in the case :)

everything in this build fits together nicely :D

I'd recommend going with a different PSU, because, although the AX series are great, they're overpriced.

I would recommend you going with a SeaSonic X-Series PSU (also known as XFX ProSeries). The 750w version is about $100, is 80 Plus Gold, and fully modular. They're awesome. http://www.seasonicusa.com/X.htm

Or If you want something higher end, you can look at SeaSonic's new Platinum series PSUs. They're basically the same as the X-Series but have a higher price tag and are 80 Plus Platinum. http://www.seasonicusa.com/Platinum_Series.htm

CL7 is actually better than CL9, thought about the PSU and couldn't find anything that I liked. and you are right about the cooler, hadn't thought of it and looks sleeker too!

Edit: thought about the PSU again and thought I chose the XFX PRO750 Watt and use the money I save on that on a H100
