Need to replace my parents' computer soon, it does what it needs to for them, although some newer games are coming out and my mom likes the Sims 3, wants to play 4 when it's released.

The PC is like a quad core amd athlon, with a gt610 I stuck in it til the comp dies, (It's like 7 years old now, getting a little slower every week it seems)

Here's the build so far.  I left out HDD cuz we just got a new one for her awhile back.

If you have any suggestions, it'd be really great. I may get her something like a 7790/7850 instead, depending on how much she wants to spend.

DO NOT get first gen FX cpu's

get a FX 4300 or FX 6300 instead.

Is there a reason for this? just curious

they are faster, more power efficient and generaly less buggy (although ive never had an issue with my 8120)

and yeah if your only playing sims just get like a decent i5-3570k or summin and use integrated graphics... dont need a 7770 for sims 3 lol

there's going to be video editing down the line for my stepdad, he's in a race team and owns his own racetruck, he wants to make videos and stuff often. And my Mom would probably play more than just sims 3+4 if she had the computer to do it with

The gt610 barely gets her like 30fps on the comp right now on lowish medium settings at 1080p, I figured a little extra horsepower behind the video card would make it more fun for her.

well if you really wanna keep costs down then just get an apu...

The budget is 400-600$ ish, that's why I figured a 7770 wasn't hurting anything since it's only 100$

3570k is a little to spendy for the build if I wanna keep it sub 500$ with a dedicated gpu :(
