Hey guys. I'm from small counrty in EU. I think of buying these parts for my upgrade.

Intel core i5 4690k ~295USD

GIGABYTE GTX970 G1 ~473USD

GEIL 2X8GB DDR III 1866 EVO LEGGERA ~230USD

WD 1024GB 64MB SATA III Black ~93USD

and may be I'll throw in ADATA 256GB M.2 2242 SSD SP900 ~153USD

but I can't decide between these two motherboards: ASUS MAXIMUS VII RANGER - 1150 (~218USD) and ASUS Z97-PRO /1150 (~229USD). And my friends are telling me that GIGABYTE Z97X-GAMING 5 ( ~175USD) will do just fine.

I'm using the PC for gaming.

Ps Sorry if I made mistakes but my english isn't that good :)

The cheapest that I found is GEIL 2X8G DDR3 1600 DRAGON ~165USD. Oh and I forgot to mention that my budget is around 1500 USD and I don't think it's enough for 980 whitch here is around 762 USD. So you say that GB will do the job just as well.

No no sry don't calculate :) . I was just wondering between the two Asus MBs and if I need to ditch them for the GB MB. I've found cheaper Ram as I said in the post above yours. :)

And one more thing. What's your opinion on ADATA 256GB M.2 2242 SSD SP900 good, bad, meh ? It'll be my first time buying SSD and I don't know much about them, what to look at and stuff.

Well honestly I would get an asus board. And a regular z97 is enough unless you really want those crazy features. I would not pay the premium but that's up to you.

And for m.2 my opinion is save the money and get a regular ssd. The speed difference is not that great for a regular user and it saves you quite some money.

For adata I can't say much about them. They are supposed to be good though.

Hey bob4estiat,

If gaming is what you are going for, 8GB of memory is more than enough and you could drop it to 2x4GB.

Also, getting a Z97 motherboard and a k-version of the 4690 implies that you are planning on overclocking the CPU. You would need to get a custom CPU Cooler in order to to so as the stock cooler won't be sufficient enough. If not - you can go for a H97 motherboard and drop down to a non-k 4690 CPU.

With the saved money, you could afford getting a good SSD or upgrade the 970 to a 980 GPU (if you think you need it).

What PSU are you using for this build? a 600W gold-certified would be more than enough giving you lots of room for future upgrades and oveclocking.

There are sales on local websites (olx.bg, emag.bg, etc.).

Feel free to ask me if you have any questions :)

My cooler is CORSAIR H80i and my PSU is Chieftec 750W but that's all I know about my PSU. When I get home from work in about 3hrs I'll tell you more about it. In emag the prices are quite high and olx people are selling their old stuff (2nd hand parts). I have a place from where to buy my stuff thanks anyway :) I was wondering that about the memory, if 8gb is enough for now. I was starting to look at INTEL 240GB 2.5" SSD, 530 Series, 7mm, SSDSC2BW240A401 because mapegl told me that there is no point in spending money for M.2. And the 980 is ~200$ more expensive here than lets say newegg and 200$ here are a lot of money, but I was thinking about that too :D

a 970 would do perfectly fine for pretty much any game and would last you a long time. Even if you feel the need for more, a dual GTX 970 is a great option for a pretty future-proof build (GPU-wise). 1000BGN for a 980 is too high IMHO for a gaming build.

Yes, it should be more than enough plus giving you space for future upgrades.
