Suppose to be my pc startup is less than 1 minute(I don't have SSD btw).

Recently I did some photoshop, screen recording and video editing 6-7 hrs straight.

After that, I turn off my pc. Then later I turn it on just to check my work again. Then I just notice that after logging in in windows 8.1, it took me for 3-4 minutes to take me to the desktop. I have no idea, So I restart my pc and it is the same result until every now and then still the same. So I use Ccleaner to cleanup my pc, do some virus scanning, and disable some unwanted startup applications and did some scanning from Command prompt. I did what I can, and still the same. any help please?

ALSO, I did system restore, and it give me an error and still doesnt help :(

PC spec

cpu: i5-4590

mobo: asus b85 pro gamer

ram: 8gb

hdd: 1tb and 500gb

psu: 520w

Hey there Louger and welcome to Linus Tech Tips forum :)

As the guys suggested, the hard drive might be causing the problem. I would go for defragmentation, probably check the drive for any errors and continue to the other parts. A good tool to check the drive is WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic. I'd run both the quick and the extended tests in order to check the drive's S.M.A.R.T. status as well as for any pad sectors that might have occurred. You could also run chkdsk /r from the CMD in Windows.
I would also go for a memory test and a start-up test to see if the problem does not come from the CPU or the RAM.

Hope this helps,

This might be a bit off topic, and might not relate to you, but for me even though i have a ssd in my pc if i connect a 2nd or 3rd hdd to the motherboard the boot times are noticeably slower, but it returns to normal if i plug them off the motherboard, or through usb.

All im saying is that if you are ok with it, open up the PC and disconnect the 2nd 500gb hdd (if im not mistaken), and look at the boot times.

The closest explanation i have as to why this is happening, is that after the 2nd hdd is reasonably filled windows did some checks on it on the boot slowing it down...

You may have pushed your almost dead HDD to the edge, and killed it.

Hey Lord_Karango17,

This might be caused by the booting order in your BIOS. If you have your HDD's in front of the SSD, your system might be looking for any boot-able options on them and then turn to the SSD. You could check the boot order.
