stuck between the strix, g1 gaming and Galaxy EX OC Black edition

does the asus 970 strix logo on top of the card light up? and does the single 8  pin connection hinder OC

Is there any difference between the g1 gaming and the normal gigabyte 970 other than the extra OC?

aiming for a nice ratio b/w cooling and noise!

Thanks in advance!

I'd go for the Strix, i think it's awesome, also is one of the cheapest, for 349$ on amazon. Also, linus made a video about the strix.

I asking the same question myself! I can't decide between the Strix and the G1 Gaming. I like the Strix as it has the 0db fan mode thing but I heard wonders about the G1 Gaming. Is the temperature difference between the Strix and G1 Gaming significant especially when overclocked? The Gigabyte card has dual bios too! Which is nice cuz it will be safer to flash those hacked bios to unlock voltage xD

There i go again:

Ive got a Gigabyte G1 Gaming and its awesome:

It OCs to 1574 Mhz and stays within reasonable temps. I wuoldnt recommend doing that for its whole lifespan without watercooling tough (there may be even more capabilities to oc with custum offset and water but i just went with the "oh lets see how well it does if you move this bar to the top and this to the right"(talking about voltage and performance  in% with the evga tool)).

Nevertheless im pretty shure the strix wouldnt appreciate it to be oced like that.

Aside of that it runs quite, looks nice imo and its LONG(u kno what i mean  )

Youll probably never hear it if you close your case and expecially not if you arent into playing games without sound (i think almost no normal person would do that). It spins up to 100% for two seconds when booting your system but i didnt notice it doing that on the run until today.

It has some negative points though:

As i mentioned it IS long like shit. Wasnt an issue for me because of removable drive cages but if you dont have these in a mid tower id do some research if you can fit it into your case. And its NOTHING for a case like the Bitfenix Prodigy (M) but you may have figured that out already.

And if you are running on a test bench or you are not closing your sidepanel (because whatever reason) youll probably hear it if you use very quite casefans, cpu cooler, powersupply and your harddrives arent spinning. Complaining on very high level there i know.

If thats important to you: i didnt find out how to change the led colour but i didnt took the cooler off until now. I dont want to get rid of my warranty in the first three months tough.

Strix is a great card too. No spinning option on low load, vey quiet, still very good performanche/price. But OCing isnt that recommended there i think.

I hope that helps you choosing  ;)
