You'll run it, aye.

But you'll get shite performance just like everyone else.

Shot through the heart and you're to blame, 30fps and i'll pirate your game - Bon Jovi

Take me down to the console city where the games are blurry and the frames are thirty - Guns N' Roses

Arguing with religious people is like explaining to your mother that online games can't be paused...

Just a quick question about DayZ, do you guys you XBOX controllers while playing or mouse and keyboard? To answer the OP's question, it's a very graphically demanding game. You probably need 8GB of ram, your graphics card should be fine.

Controller is not supported yet.

CPU: Athlon X4 760K - Can overclock to 4+ ghz

GPU: r9 270x 2gb gddr5 ram.

RAM: 4gbs 1600 mhz.

Would I be able to run DayZ Standalone, at all?

You'll get low frame rates in cities for sure, but still playable. I played that game on an 8350 for a long time.

The game is really not very graphically demanding. It's just very cpu heavy, and not threaded very well.

Thanks man, I wouldn't mind dropping frames in city's because I wouldn't be in them much, lol. Is the game worth buying in the state it's in or should I wait?

I would say absolutely. It's had rough patches since launch, but the last update was fantastic, and there's a ton to do. It's looking like the next update to the game will also finally add vehicles which is great! I have about 260hrs in the game and it's still very fun to play! It's best if you play it with friends though, so if you want to play with a group feel free to add me on steam!

I will keep that offer in mind, a couple of my friends have the game and only one of them kinda likes it so I will test the game first before buying it, once they add vehicles to the game it will add much more hours of fun!

yes here is the truth about why dayz gets such low fps. during gameplay with around 20fps my gpu usage is around 30 percent. this is obviously the issue. I do not know why the devs havent fixed this but here is a temporary fix to get it to peg your gpu at 99 percent during gameplay. right click on dayz in your steam library>properties>set launch options> in the window put "-winxp" then click ok and the game will run beautifully however the game will crash if you minimize it in this mode so watch out for that. you can still acess the steam overlay when you are playing the game though. the trade off is definitely worth it to me.

DayZ currently renders way too much. It's not a GPU intensive game, it's the CPU that bottlenecks it. The current issue is in cities, every single interior is rendered, regardless if it's visible or a few blocks away. Every chair, table, gun, etc is rendered.

no its not the problem is is that it doesnt use over 50 percent of the gpu when put into windows xp compatibility mode it actually pegs the gpu at 99 percent doubling the framerate

There is Rocket talking about the engine not being optimized for multiple cores and the issues with rendering interiors.
