Upcoming Build: Mini-ITX case recommendations, please?

Go to solution Solved by TheSLSAMG,

The PSU is overkill.

Well, you missed the entire point of the thread.

OP, The 250D is a solid, high quality case, as is the Node 304. I personally am not a fan of the Node's design or layout, so I would have to suggest the 250D.

Hey all,

I have a few of these parts on the way and own most of the others:

I'm just at the point where I'm unsure of what mini-itx case to go with for a slick little rig I can bring other places. Budget is up to $120.00.

If there is a case that you simply get more for less money than some other ones, feel free to share!

I've narrowed it down to a few here so far:

Corsair 250D

Antec ISK600

Fractal Node 304

Cooler Master Elite 130

I would rule out the coolermaster elite 130 because the Node 304 and the others have better cooling layouts which are easier to work in.

The PSU is overkill.

Got it on sale from NewEgg for 99 bucks, deal was too good so I snagged it.

Thanks for your input, and yeah I did see some reviews and the cooling did seem lackluster.

Thanks for your suggestion, I'm torn between the 250D and the Antec at the moment. 250D is at Amazon for 75.00 while the ISK600 is 55.00.

I will offer some words of advice though.

The Node 304's HDD location is a bit flawed, and it limits airflow.

It's a near-nightmare to work in for a lot of setups, including those with full height GPUs and tower air coolers.

Because of the PSU location, the front of the case feels extremely cramped.

Thanks for your suggestion, I'm torn between the 250D and the Antec at the moment. 250D is at Amazon for 75.00 while the ISK600 is 55.00.

The ISK600 is a pretty case, but it suffers the same issue as the Node 304 does with front to back airflow and PSU compatibility. The PSU is too long for the ISK600, and the airflow is bound to be lackluster to the point where you would want to spend the extra 20.00 and get the 250D.

Gotcha, 250D then. Thanks a bunch for your help!

No problem! Enjoy that system when it's built, and take pictures! :P
