Dat font also 970 as there's no reason to get a 760 or a 770 now.

760? no, not worth it, however for $260 a 770 is pretty good, and fro that price range i would recommend it over a R9 280x

The extra performance and VRAM is more than worth the price difference between the 970 and the 770. That being said it is a viable alternative if the budget can be stretched to $330. The reason I said what I said is because the OP mentioned getting the 970 in the first place. If they hadn't I would have assumed that the 970 was too expensive and would have suggested the 770 instead.

yes i know, but my latest costumer had about $950. yes you can squeeze a 970 into there. but im in CAN, and i only like NCIX, so right there are some limitations. still i could have got a 970, but i did not want to skimp on the rest of the computer.

Go with the 970. And just so you know, a new GTX 970 with 8GB of VRAM is coming out soon, so if you're planning on gaming in high resolution (above 1920x1080) you might want to consider waiting for that model.

Basically, AMD sucks ATM with their crappy Mantle and weird open source dynamic vsync garbage.

Anyway, until they materialise something to compete with nvidia, if you can afford the $400 range, get a GTX 970. Nothing else ATM makes sense.

Look at the graph above and stop being an nvidiot fanboy. AMD wipes the floor with nvidia on everything 780 and below.

I have a 7970 FYI. I just take all info and make my decisions based on cold hard facts. "AMD wipes the floor with nvidia" is a very fan-boyish statement lol.

Just to let ya know ;)

BTW, maybe do some research before you make unsubstantiated comments.

You are very misinformed and I'm done arguing to with you from here on in. Your points prove nothing. The only purpose this serves is to use up precious space on Linus' and Luke's 850 pros. Lol.

r9 290 doesn't really beat the 970 in anything and rarely even comes close (when the 970 is OCed.) And all that for an average of $50-$80 more than a 970.

Your posts are laughable at best mate, I just hope that no unsuspecting nubes succumb to believing your rubbish.

Cheers

Well you are getting ... "all worked up" again LOL no need to my friend. A 290 priced right below a 970 makes sense since it performs ... rrrright below a 970.

It's not though, an r9 290x barely competes with a 970 let alone a r9 290.

And with the cheapest 290 being the same as, or slightly above a gtx 970 it...wait for it... STILL makes no sense! Well why? Might you ask... Well the answer is simple.

Because if 290 costs $409.99 and gtx 970 costs $409.99 it would still be silly to choose the 290! But to each their own.

But honestly they're all so close - R9 290/290X and GTX 970 @ stock speeds. It's a matter of what's the cheapest at the time, and which camp (red vs green) has the features you want.

Sapphire vapor X R9 290 for $270 plus 3 free games is a great deal when compared to a GTX 970 for $330 and one free game. I could sell the free games that come with the 290 or buy another and have 4 games plus a kick ass aftermarket top of the line R9 290 vs a run of the mill bottom end GTX 970 with one free game.

There is no such thing as a run-of-the-mill, low-end GTX 970. They are all flagship cards from Nvidia lol.

But I hear what you're saying though. And I agree, it's the better deal.

Yeah true, the reference design 970 suck ballz. But once they release the Titan cooler for the 970 all hell will break loose. Literally. Satan will knock on my door bearing a box with a Titan-cooled 970 :-P

Look at this ugly POS LOL I am not paying perfectly good money and lots of it for that matter for a POS like this. It's supposed to be a high end device and should not look like it came from a 25cent gumball machine at Chucky Cheese LOL.
