I WOULD SAY THAT likely it would, however i dont thinkl that spending more on your monitor than your gpu is smart

My toaster can Max Dota 2 at 120fps

The GTX 760 can hit that, I'm not surprised if you can OC the 970 to a point where you can run 4k then downsample it to 1440, and still get 120fps

I don't see full 5v5 clash there. I would want to avoid a significant fps drop during important fights.

That would be down to the CPU more than the GPU, your CPU will cope fine, the 970 will laugh at DOTA 2.

All MOBA games are really light if compared to new gen FPS games and the 970 can output on those demanding games 80+ FPS... you definitely will be able to maintain at least 100 FPS but you should know that the difference won't be really noticeable. Maybe some occasional drops on teamfights but nothing that apparent.

When you move around the map and during team fights you might get a better experience but it won't be something much more amazing than regular 60Hz monitors.

In my experience, FPS and racing games are the genre that look more fluid and even gives you some advantage when you play on a high refresh monitor. Nevertheless, 1440p with DotA is very pretty and "big" so at least there's that.

If the 760 can max it out here, I think the 970 would be fine. Overclocked, the 970 can perform about as well as a 780 Ti (if you OC it hard)

Even if the FPS dips to 100 at times, it's not that bad, right?

The 970 is nearly as good as it gets for gaming on a single GPU right now.

I overclock my 970 to 1254/1393/1481 (base/boost/actual) and also overclock my memory clock to 8000 MHz. Kinda scared to touch the voltage, do you think I should go for it?

If you're okay with a higher temperature, go for it! Just increase it in small increments. Personally I wouldn't want the temperatures to go over 70, but that's my personal opinion.

Over 180fps on a 760, in 1080p.

970 is so powerful, I think in 4k u will still maintain over 100fps

Sure it is as the monitor is arguably the most important part of a computer. A GPU is only as good as the monitor that can display the images it produces.
