I built a computer yesterday, and I am having a problem with it.

My parts are:

i7-4790K

GTX 780Ti

MSI Z87-G41 PC Mate

8GB DDR3 1600mHz Memory

Sandisk 240GB SSD

Corsair CX750M

The problem is that after using any program that has sound, my sound will slow down and sound terrible, and as this happens my framerate drops massively.

For example, I was running Valley 1.0 benchmark, and I start out at ~60fps, but after a few scenes the music will get really weird and slowed down, and my framerate drops down to 2-3fps. This is a huge problem for me as I use my computer mainly for gaming and video editing, both of which are affected by the problem.

Any help is appreciated.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers. Use the drivers that are provided by your manufacturer. Sometimes Windows' drivers don't work well.

Try reconnecting your speakers. If that doesn't help, connect different speakers.

Try changing the port, use the front ports or back ports if you are using the front ports.

Are you using onboard audio or a sound card? I would also check for a BIOS update as well.

I hope you're not using the stock Intel cooler, that's just asking for throttling. I don't see how your sound drivers would cause a massive frame drop, but I'd install the latest ones from MSI. I also noticed that you're using a Z87 board with a 4790K, how you got it to post is beyond me. Time to update the bios.
