Hi,

I have a Dell Vostro 3700 on which I set up a dual boot Windows 8 / OpenSUSE 13.1 and I'm currently having issues with it. Yesterday I noticed some weird behaviors on Linux with screen freezes along with the apparition of pixels and ugly squares on the screen. At first I thought that these issues were software related (since I recently ran an update) but today I noticed similar issues on Windows 8 : after turning to sleep mode I was unable to turn the laptop back on. The screen would remain black and the laptop would reboot. Now I often get freezes and sometimes I see a popup in the task bar saying that the nVidia driver wasn't responding.

I've been using this laptop for more than two years and I bought it in a used condition. It has been overheating for a while and at some point cleaning it up didn't make a big difference in terms of temperature. Is it safe to say that the GPU is "broken"? If so, is there any way to fix it or to disable so I can use the iGPU?

Thanks
