Razer Krakens, yay or nay?

officiallyasimulator

Hey guys, i can get a pair of razer kraken pros for $73AUD or the normal krakens for $59AUD, and i was wondering, does anyone use them, how are they? or are there better headsets for the money?

EDIT: I can get the logitech G430s for $60, my friend has them, and i quite like them, would they be better even though they are cheaper?

Well, people will say there are better headsets for the money like the Hyper X Clouds, which are really good.

Although I was lucky enough to buy a pair of Razer BlackSharks for 50 bucks on sale because they're the BF4 edition and they look (Apparently) bad

But I do like these, I don't think razer makes bad headsets though. I would consider the HyperX clouds though. I've heard nothing but good things about them.

Razer works well with Electronic music and they're on the bass-y side of the lot

I had green Kraken Pros, audio was average, there were meh for comfort, but the mic was horrible, almost 0 volume. I wouldn't recommend them, even for $73 bucks.

Nay... Audio was muddy in the bass and lower-mids, high-mids are subdued... Haven't tested the mics...

I have a pair of Blackshark as well, and I believe it has Razer's signature sound....that is, totally muddied mids, subdued highs and overwhelming bass. If you had gotten it cheap it's fine, but to pay full retail for that POS headset is like being robbed. I still have it but have not used it in a long while.....I suppose if anyone who buys this wants bass or is a basshead, then yeah, it'd be OK as well. I have the HX Cloud as well, way better in every department but lacks the bass punch of the Blackshark. The thing is, listening to music with the HX Cloud is a way better experience than with the Blackshark. For gaming, I believe it has better positional sound vis-a-vis Blackshark because its mids and highs aren't badly muddied or subdued. So, concerning the OP/TS's question, that's a big 'NAY!'. ;)

I don't have a Kraken, but I did audition the Kraken Forge and had so much wanted to like it because it's so good looking, but unfortunately, the Razer signature sound (though not as bass heavy as the Blackshark) got in the way.

I have it, they are awesome, comfortable and sound good.

But if you want options you should look into the HyperX cloud.

I have it honestly i love it it sounds warm good bass but people say its not good for music because it is tuned for bombs and stuff. But with an equaliser will definitely help or normal settings will be fine.

They are pretty much average. Better get something of Audio-Technica for that price. And a separate mic.

If you care about quality, stay away from Razer.

If you can, get some Superlux headphones (like HD681 Evo or 668b for more bass) and pair them with a Zalman ZM-MIC1 clip-on mic. Cheaper than majority of the "big name" headsets with far better quality. HyperX Cloud is hard to beat for a headset, though. Unless you have a budget over $200 that is.

open design: qpad QH-85

Closed design: Qpad QH-90 or HX Clouds (same headset just different name).

And if you can really miss the money go for a good pair of headphones with a modmic. But if you're on a 'tight' budget, get the clouds/qpad.
