Amd gpu driver update problem

Go to solution Solved by JB780,

a while ago i realised that i cant update my gpu driver. it doesnt matter what version i install im stuck with 14.3. tried different versions and uninstalling the driver. i thought its a windows 8 problem so i installed windows 7 and searched for my old license :D

but it didnt help even with a fresh os i get version 14.3 when install 14.9 or the 14.9.2 beta

in an amd forum i got the hint that it might help when i use gdu (graphics driver uninstaller) but that didnt help too on win8 and win7

by the way i have an asus r9 280x dcu 2 oc (not top) with the newest firmware

does anyone have an idea?

thanks for your help.

I thought I had this problem too until I looked into it a little further.

The display driver version in 14.9.2 beta is 14.301.1006

You need Windows 8.1 for any of the newer updates. They have dropped support for standalone Windows 8. This was announced a few months back (after driver 14.3?)

Here's a short news article about it.

Companies, including AMD and M$ themselves, are beginning to realize 8 should be pushed aside, and should never existed.
