Obs questions

I have an issue with OBS recording low- quality videos. I've checked and rechecked my settings, and my locally saved video looks the same on youtube, so its a recording not uploading issue. These are  my settings:

I'm not sure whats causing this, I mean I do record to the same drive my game and OBS are on because I don't have another one. I do have another partition though, would it help to move something there?

Example 1 is at 480p and Example 2 is at 720p

Try CBR and set it to 25000 instead of VBR.

Since you're using R9 series, why not use OBS with VCE?

I'll give VCE a try, and where could I find CBR and VBR? I've also installed VCE, how do I use it?

In Encoding option, tick CBR. To use VCE, just tick VCE in the same page instead of x264. Do not auto update the program, else it will break VCE support.

I don't think it's gonna affect the recording performance.

Another question, should I record to another partition or will that not matter because its the same drive?

Doesn't matter. Only drives write speed has effect. So if you are using 7200rpm drive already, that shouldn't be the issue. Unless drive is nearly full.

Its pretty much said, but tick CBR. I'm not sure what is problem with 'yall but 3300-3500 bitrate is well than enough for 1080p recording. Try changing fileformat to mp4 instead of flv. Youtube will convert it so it doesn't matter. Also buffer size should be same as bitrate.

-snip-

It may sound like a stupid question, but how long are you waiting before checking the upload quality? I have never had a youtube video be that dissimilar to what the file looked like locally, other than when I tried watching it in HD too soon. I have had youtube take up to a few hours to serve my content at full quality.

Just a few minutes, but my older videos had the same issue.
