Anyone seen or tried a PS2 HTPC?

C3DMaX

Hi guys,

as i have 3 ps2 , i had this idea for a long time

before starting to search for one of them and measure, i thought i'd ask if anyone knows if there is a mobo that can fit in a ps2 (original fat model btw)

i'd love to go with something like a pentium anniversary edition cpu, not sure about gpu and so on, just want to discuss this idea

You could most definitely fit a mITX or even maybe a mATX mobo in there. A GPU should be possible with a flat ribbon cable PCI-E riser. Rest is up to you

PSU probably needs to have the enclosure of it removed or use an external power brick or something to fit inside

I think it would be possible as people have done this with the original NES which is about the same size. (Slightly bigger and boxier)

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

i measured the ps2 and looked up mini itx mb sizes

so mini itx is 17cm by 17cm

but from my measurement (from outside, so inside the space might even be a bit less) the ps2 is 16 cm wide as the bottom half is smaller than the top half, i may be able to put everything in up side down, as the top half would be able to fit the mobo

if anyone is interested, i'll post pics of my measurements and a part list that im planning to get as soon as i have sold my second pc (might take a while),

MB:  Asus H81I-Plus

RAM: 8GB Crucial Ballistix Sport

CPU: Intel Pentium G3258

not sure about psu and gpu

for gpu maybe a 750ti or maybe that dam fine mini itx 970 (also no idea if i can fit anything inside the ps2 so maybe igpu?)

as far as psu goes, can anyone of you point me in the right direction? probably need an external one and i have no idea where to start with that

pics: (dont hate for the mess, lel)
